Parts Department Assistant

We are seeking an energetic and motivated individual to assist us in our parts department. To start, major duties will include stocking shelves, making hydraulic hose assemblies, and helping with basic inventory management. From there, you’ll quickly come to work with a large class of industrial parts, learning their function and application, and using this skillset to help customers solve their mechanical problem. Our hope is that you’ll eventually take on some of the duties of an industrial parts specialist - someone who can read and interpret technical schematics and blueprints, identify parts needed for a given repair or manufacturing task based on functional requirements, and cross-reference part numbers with equivalent specs. Froedge Machine takes a holistic approach to industrial service, with capabilities in parts, CNC and manual machining, maintenance and repair, engineering, and fabrication. Our parts department is part of that whole, and as such, we often need to work with other departments to accomplish a goal or fulfill a customer’s needs. A willingness to learn and ask questions about the work other departments do will be an asset to any candidate.

Responsibilities:

  • Grow to understand the function and applications of a large array of industrial parts
  • Manage inventory, stock shelves and help with miscellaneous tasks
  • Communicate with customers about the status of their orders and with colleagues and other departments who may be involved
  • Assist with upkeep of a company safety program

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Competency in basic literacy, math and computer skills
  • A great attitude and the ability to work in a public facing role
  • Mechanical background, especially background in agricultural or industrial parts, is a plus

Service Repair Technician

We are seeking a skilled and motivated individual for a fast-paced position within our service department. The ideal candidate is someone with a mechanical background, with some experience in one or more of industrial maintenance, parts research, electronics, hydraulics, welding or automotive repair. Those with experience in areas such as agriculture are also encouraged to apply. Our service department deals with a highly diverse set of jobs - work here will offer a lot of varied experience while strengthening your mechanical and technical skills. The ideal candidate is willing to learn a lot, ask questions, and dig into problems to pin down an answer.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, repair, service, test and troubleshoot equipment
  • Plan repair work using blueprints and technical manuals
  • Communicate with customers about the status of their work requests
  • Collaborate with colleagues on the best route forward in solving a given problem

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Mechanical or technical background
  • Ability to follow instructions from supervisors and collaborate on problems
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools. Some equipment provided, though must provide own hand tools
  • Prolonged periods standing and walking; Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces; Must be able to lift 50+ pounds at a time.

Industrial Electrician and Fabricator

We are seeking an electrically-inclined person with some mechanical background to either step into or grow into a position as a well-rounded industrial electrician. The ideal candidate has either recently graduated from technical school or college with coursework in any one of industrial maintenance, mechatronics, electronics, or other mechanical or electrical study, or already has some years of experience in the field. Regardless of background, we're looking for an ambitious self-starter with decent math skills that we can teach the ropes to - we aren't expecting you to know a lot, but we expect you to be able to learn and be curious enough to find answers to questions. You’ll eventually fall into the role of industrial electrician - someone with a good understanding of electrical system requirements and design and assembly. You’ll be expected to assist in the design of those systems, as well as in their fabrication. We want someone we can also train to help more generally with fabrication: pneumatic and hydraulic installations, machine assembly and blueprint reading, and welding. When not working on electrical systems, we’ll need your help wherever you’re needed in our fabrication shop. This position is perfect for someone who is okay with a mix of responsibilities and is able to learn several different skills. A note on travel: We frequently travel (sometimes over great distances) to install the equipment we build at customer sites. The current position we are hiring for may require travel. If you are unable to travel out-of-state for jobs, please let us know - if you’re the right candidate we will definitely work with you.

Responsibilities:

  • Read and understand technical drawings
  • Assist in design of electrical power systems in large conveyance and other industrial equipment
  • Help with both mechanical and electrical construction of those systems
  • Be or become a well-rounded fabricator who we can call on for nearly anything on the shop floor
  • Help track work orders and bill of materials as a job makes its way through the manufacturing process

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Prolonged periods standing and walking; Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces; Must be able to lift 50+ pounds at a time.
  • Demonstrated technical background or education
